Door Council Discusses Conference Restructuring, Documents, More at Annual Conference

During the Annual AAMA conference in February in Phoenix, AZ, AAMA’s Door Council met and reviewed the work of several task groups and committees and discussed progress of document development. Door Council Makes Plans for Door Standards Upgrade, Code Developments, More

Updates were heard from the AAAMA 930-03 Review Task Group, the Multi-Panel Door Testing for Certification Task Group and others at the AAMA Summer Conference in June. Plans for an upgrade to the AAMA 920 were also made. Additional work from Door Council will commence soon at the AAMA Fall Conference September 5-28.

Door Council to Address Testing and Certification for Multi-Panel Doors

In other issues visited by the Door Council, the Multi-Panel Door Testing for Certification Task Group is tasked to review testing and certification of multi-panel door systems not currently covered under NAFS (e.g., bi-fold, multi-slide, lift-and-slide, etc.).The group will start its review with multi-panel sliding door systems, then proceed to multi-panel folding and lift-and-slide doors.

Water Testing Featured in Door Standards Facelift

Three AAMA standards cover the function of a fully assembled door. While not hardware standards per se, they are intended to establish the hardware's durability through loads and cycle testing. As is continually the case, efforts proceed to update the standards to reflect advances and revisions to codes, test methods and underlying technology. All three are in various stages of review, although AAMA 930 is the focus of the most activity.
