It’s been a busy year for AAMA in a lot of ways, but I am proud that we didn’t lose sight of the importance of helping others despite all the association’s activity. AAMA staff is committed to philanthropy in a lot of ways, including participation in World Vision’s Global 6K for Water this past May, as well as a staff volunteer event this past summer at Feed My Starving Children here in Schaumburg, IL. We held our annual backpack build at the Fall Conference in October, partnering once again with World Vision to provide 500 backpacks full of school supplies to in-need children in the Tucson, AZ area.

To round out 2018, AAMA staff is encouraged to give back one more time. In advance of staff week December 10-14, when all our staff joins together in Schaumburg for, among other things, our annual holiday party, staff is encouraged to do any (or all!) of the following good deeds:

Community service: Complete an act of community service before 2018 closes, such as volunteering a shift at a soup kitchen, donating blankets to a homeless shelter or helping build a house with Habitat for Humanity or a similar organization.

Food donating: It’s easy to donate food locally, and staff is encouraged to give at least 10 items to a food drive in their area. Many grocery stores serve as convenient drop-off locations.

Feed My Starving Children shift: Staff is being offered three volunteer opportunities during Staff Week, and lucky for us, this organization is located within a mile of AAMA HQ.

While no volunteer work is required, those at AAMA who complete the most acts of goodwill earn points toward prizes during AAMA’s holiday party – adding a dash of competition to the spirit of the event! If those at your company are volunteering together, or independently, this holiday season, we want to know about it. Tag AAMA’s Twitter or Instagram handle in posts about your efforts so we can share your good work. Have a wonderful holiday season!
