Brian Stephens has been with his current company, Technoform, for six years. Today, he shares some highlights from his time in the industry so far.

Could you describe your role at your company?

I am responsible for business development in the Western part of North America. I work with both fabricators and influencers to drive the use of high performance façade systems.

What products does your company manufacture?

Technoform has two divisions in North America. Technoform Glass Insulation which manufactures a high-performance hybrid insulating glass spacer and Technoform Bautec which manufactures insulating strips for aluminum window systems.

Give me a brief history of your professional background and how you originally became involved in the industry.

I started my career as a sales engineer for Carrier HVAC. I worked with contractors and engineers to help design and select the right HVAC systems for commercial and residential applications. I moved in the fenestration industry 6 years ago with Technoform. I saw a company that was new to the North American market, but had a great culture and were producing a high-quality product focused on improving the performance of the building envelope.

What accomplishment are you most proud of with regards to your work as an AAMA member?

I have just started participating in AAMA and just joined my first committee. I am just excited to help where I can and learn from all of the experience in the organization.

Where do you see the fenestration industry in the next 10 years?

I think we will continue to see a push for improved thermal performance and durability.

What is the best advice you’ve received in your career so far?

Listen, listen, and listen some more. As a new professional I was always told to soak up as much knowledge as I can and that learning never stops so you always have to be open to learning new things.
