A Comparison Matrix intended to resolve the differences and consolidate the redundancies between AAMA 653-14, Voluntary Performance Requirements and Test Procedures for Organic Coatings on Wood and Cellulosic Composite Substrates, and WDMA TM-12-2013, Test Method for Factory Applied Pigmented Coatings for Wood and Wood Cellulosic Composites Used for Millwork, has been under development by the WCCMC Finishes Committee (Chair: Jack Reed [Arkema]).

The ballot of the Matrix conducted this spring yielded several substantive comments. These were clarified as needed by the committee and staff by follow-up with the respondents and with WDMA.

The committee re-balloted the Matrix to the Product Groups on July 31 due to the resulting substantive changes, with responses due September 4. A cover letter was included that explained what the goal is and how to interpret the chart. Upon approval by the product groups, the Matrix will be sent to Document Management Committee, then AAMA Board will take direct action before final approval by WDMA.
