The residential windows section of the American Architectural Manufacturers Association (AAMA) website received a recent overhaul. These new web pages focus exclusively on residential windows - those installed in new home construction, as well as remodeling and replacement, including skylights, sometimes referred to as “roof windows.” Intended to aid homeowners and the industry in addressing questions related to windows in residential applications, information on window types and features, safety and security, energy, installation and more can now be found in one place. A “Common Questions” section explains the benefits of residential windows including not only architectural beauty, but also energy efficiency, daylighting and natural ventilation.

“We wanted the site to be easy for homeowners to find credible, third-party industry information to explain air infiltration and condensation, which tend to be the most common questions regarding newly installed windows,” said Kim Flanary (Milgard), Acting Chair of the Residential Window Council Marketing Committee. “We also wanted it to serve as a go-to place for industry knowledge.”

Anyone from fenestration industry professionals to homeowners can benefit from a commonly asked questions section, a page dedicated to saving energy while remaining comfortable in a home and crucial information about the importance of daylighting. This section of the site also reviews residential window testing and certification, as well as how to understand condensation on windows.

AAMA encourages fenestration companies to provide these web pages to their customer service representatives to serve as a third-party resource for homeowner questions.

About the Residential Window Council

To act as an information provider and promoter of residential windows and sunrooms in the fenestration and related building products industry.
