AAMA, an AIA-approved continuing education provider and the leading trade association in the fenestration industry, has been offering continuing education since 2000. AIA members are required to earn 18 continuing education learning units each year, which includes 12 hours of coursework in Health, Safety and Welfare (HSW) topics. Plus, several states have established their own continuing education requirements for licensed architects, many of which recognize AIA credits. AAMA offers multiple options to obtain these credits.

Online Course

Your time is valuable. That's why we offer distance courses that are accessible at your convenience. In addition to the programs listed below, we currently offer online versions of Specifying Windows, Doors and Skylights Using Performance Standards – NAFS-11 and Specifying Windows, Doors and Skylights Using Performance Standards – NAFS-17, both of which qualify as 1 LU/HSW credit each with the AIA. Additionally, these courses are free. A certificate of completion is provided following successful completion of these courses. For those states that recognize AIA courses, this certificate can be used for verify state-mandated requirements.

Fundamentals of Fenestration

This introductory educational program provides basic terminology and standards for windows, doors and skylights, covering both residential and light commercial products, as well as commercial and architectural applications. The online course is designed for use by several audiences, as well as qualifying for continuing education credits. Your online purchase provides three-month unlimited access to the course.

Classroom Course

Member companies may elect to present AIA-accredited, AAMA-approved classroom courses via the AAMA Continuing Education Licensing Program. The classroom version of Specifying Windows, Doors and Skylights Using Performance Standards is offered by AAMA and presented by member companies who are licensed to present it.

FenestrationMasters Courses

The AAMA FenestrationMasters® program offers professional certification and education that covers the full breadth of the fenestration industry, including performance standards, products and materials, test methods and code requirements. The AIA accepts the FenestrationAssociate and FenestrationMaster coursework as 11 and 13.5 LUs/HSWs, respectively. Completion of the courses allows professionals to fulfill most of the annual requirement for AIA continuing education (18 LU/12 HSW hours), while also earning a professional certification.

In addition to AIA education offerings, AAMA is an International Code Council (ICC) approved provider offering FenestrationAssociate and FenestrationMaster coursework as 1.10 and 1.35 continuing education credits, respectively, which may be self reported to the ICC.
