FGIA is pleased to participate as an association partner in GlassBuild Connect: The Glass & Fenestration Online Experience, taking place September 1-30 at GlassBuild.com.

GlassBuild Connect seeks to bring together attendees and exhibitors online for a month-long product- and education-focused event. Starting September 1, registered visitors to GlassBuild.com can connect to learn about thousands of products and services from nearly 350 of the industry’s leading glass and fenestration suppliers.

Registrants will also have access to daily educational events, economic and trend forecast presentations, product demonstrations and other informative programming throughout the month. Registrants will receive alerts about special content for each themed weekday:

  • Objective: Provides a broad overview of installation methods per consensus-based industry standards and reinforces the importance of proper installation.
  • Speaker: Rich Rinka, Technical Manager, Fenestration Standards and U.S. Industry Affairs

About InstallationMasters

The InstallationMasters® Training and Certification Program is offered to installers of windows and doors all across the country. Three separate segments of the InstallationMasters program are available, all of which address water management, installation materials and components, installation practices for various fenestration frame styles and shapes, job site safety, product performance and operator types, and more.

In light of the COVID-19 outbreak, FGIA has developed guidelines for a new virtual training program that will allow instructors to hold installer training classes remotely. This interim virtual class training option is being extended to qualified, currently accredited InstallationMasters instructors. This training option is only available for a limited time, and the expiration for virtual classes will be communicated as the national situation with COVID-19 continues to develop.

Preventing IG Failures | Forensic Investigation

  • Objective: Provides a best practice approach for the manufacture of quality insulating glass units. Covers ways to determine the causes of various types of failures that IG units face on an ongoing basis.

The Preventing Insulating Glass Failures educational seminar was developed by subject-matter-experts for the benefit of continuing education for the industry. The individual sessions are topic specific and offers participants best practices for the manufacture of quality insulating glass units. This program includes 13 video presentations accessible online, as well as handouts from each presentation.

FenestrationMasters | North American Fenestration Standard (NAFS) Requirements

September 23 | Performance Wednesday at 2:30 p.m. Eastern

  • Overview: This sneak peek of the vast FenestrationMasters professional certification program provides a summary of the harmonized NAFS standard. The course is broken into four sections in the FGIA Learning Management System (LMS), and this session will cover the second and third sections.
    • Part II - Basic Performance Requirements, requirements for structural loading, water penetration, air infiltration and forced entry resistance
    • Part III - Window Testing, product test size requirements, optional performance grades, unique requirements for operator types and optional performance requirements, such as condensation resistance, as well as acoustical and thermal performance

The FenestrationMasters® program provides training content based on consensus-based AAMA standards. To gain the FGIA FenestrationMasters professional certification, the curriculum and certification exam must be completed.
